Drag Racing:
The "Jungle Pam" Hardy Gallery
Enjoy!
#128: 1973: Drag Racing Personality "Jungle Pam" Hardy
A lot of big names were at Dragway 42 for this multi day AHRA National event in May. Here we see "Jungle Pam" wearing one of her notorious outfits, assisting "Jungle Jim" as he prepares for another wild Funny Car pass. After Jim's burnouts she would guide him back in the traction path with outrageous body language. The stately and uninhibited Ms. Hardy was very alluring. We think it was the way the way she wore her glasses....WOW!
#139: 1973: Drag Racing Personality "Jungle Pam" Hardy In Motion
Here we see "Jungle Pam" in motion, intently guiding "Jungle Jim" back onto the traction path with her famous body language, long hair flying. The stately and uninhibited Ms. Hardy was very athletic. She moved like a sensual cat. WOW!
#245: 1973: Drag Racing Personality "Jungle Pam" Hardy In Motion
Here's another image of the fabulous Jungle Pam from the same sequence. That's Don Schumacher's "Wonder Wagon," in the other lane.

Ane here's another one from the same sequence. And she's still totaly focused on the job at hand.
#240: 1973 Racing Personalities: Cha Cha, Jungle Jim and Jungle Pam
Here's an image picturing three Drag Racing Icons in the same image.... "Jungle Pam" Hardy, "Jungle Jim" Liberman, and Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney. It was captured at Dragway 42 (West Salem, Ohio) on May 24, 1973. This low resolution Net image doesn't do the print justice (very sharp with a full range of tones). A lot of big names were at Dragway 42 for an AHRA National event. Here we see the three huge stars involved in a starting line debate. We have no idea what they are discussing but Shirley looks a little irritated while Jim and Pam seem to be listening intently (interesting body language). You could spend weeks making up captions for this one.
#241: 1973 Racing Personality: Jungle Pam In The Truck
Here we see "Jungle Pam" standing in Jungle Jim's spartan hauler, watching the action of a between rounds thrash. This is a rare image of Pam without her glasses. A light breeze is gently floating her hair.... very pretty (see detail). Also, check out the crude starter and battery box resting on the floor of the truck. Things were relatively simple back in 1973.
#247: 1973 Jungle Pam and Jungle Jim
Here's an image picturing two Drag Racing Icons "Jungle Pam" Hardy, and "Jungle Jim" Liberman, in action, in the same image. It was captured at Dragway 42 (West Salem, Ohio) on May 23, 1973. This low resolution Net image doesn't do the print justice (very sharp with a full range of tones). Pam strolls toward the starting line as Jim blips the car on a practice launch. Yes, at this meet all the Pro Cars, were allowed a one pre-race launch.
Here's Jungle Pam and Jungle Jim with two unidetified friends. This image was captured at Dragway 42 during the multi day AHRA National event in May, 1973. This was Friday night, just after pro qualifications.
Does anyone out there know these guys? We believe the man on the left was a Liberman crew member. Please send us any information you can and we will add it to our Drag Racing Histories.
Here's Jungle Pam and Bill (not so grumpy) Jenkins with two crew members. This is rare, Grumpy almost never smiled. The crewman on Pam's right (with the glasses) is chassis builder Ed Quay and the man to his right is is Tom Kerr from East Liverpool OH. They both worked for Bill in 1972/73.
This image was captured at Dragway 42 during the multi day AHRA National event in May, 1973. This was Friday night, just after pro qualifications. Jenkins set fast P/S time and won the trophy. Is that why Grumpy's smiling? We don't think so. We think Jungle Pam Hardy melted the Grump.
